Not much happened today really because of the late night last night, but I just wanted to post a nice sunset picture from my damage limitation bike ride.
So, new year resolutions. Well I am pretty good in some ways, don’t drink much or smoke and am not overweight so the usual resolutions are out of the window. I guess in the last few years with my new found love for cycling, I have neglected friends and extended family to some extent, so I guess I should make more of an effort there. When the smoking ban comes around I will be more likely to go to pubs and so on.
I will be honest and say at the moment I do not have any great ambitions and I really enjoy my life. Mountain biking has got to the stage where I would really have to shave time from other activities to get significantly fitter so I guess ill just pootle along and have fun. Moving out is always on the agenda and getting a place of my own would be nice.
Im fully committed to learning Spanish though, going to go along to the open day on the 7th.
To be perfectly honest I didn’t do very much during the day on New Years Eve, jut took the dog for a walk and generally slacked around. In the evening I went to the Crags bar near the Commonwealth pool to meet up with some friends.
One of my friends (Tall Ian) had hired out the room to the right as you go in with the bar and pool tables - this room was packed but the pub was otherwise dead. The Atom Bombs were playing some very fast rock, im not quite sure what you call the genre - maybe ‘nu metal’ or something, but it was quite mad. After a few whiskies and pints the bells approached, Ruth and I went outside to watch the fireworks which were really quite spectacular.
The proper carnage started happening after 1am really, as everyone had been drinking for a long time and I am just a lightweight. We started to dance around, play hand slap games, talk about capitalism and generally have a laugh - before the bar shut, then took some photos.
Yep, I have no idea what was going on here either! We eventually get kicked out and mess around a bit more in the car park, where Kate and I have the beginnings of a dance-off and I try to figure skate. Bad idea really!
We head back to Iains to watch tv and drink more, before having to walk all the way back again to go home at 4am. I passed on the kebab shop though to the disbelief of Marc and Kate! All in all a great night.

Also, a few friends of mine went to a party with a rather fancy Cocktail Machine. You stick a pile of different bottles in, tell it what cocktail you would like (and the quantity), and it measures the drink out for you! It even detects whether there is a glass underneath the tap, and who is using the machine through RFID tags. Pretty nifty for a home project!
